Geology Department

                                                                    Vision

The Department of Geology seeks to maintain excellence, creativity and dissemination of knowledge in the geological sciences. Based on this vision, an environment of collaboration among students, teaching staff members and the department will be provided in education, learning and research as well. This will allow the members involved to work together as participants responsible for the development of society.

 

                                                                  Mission

The Department of Geology aspires to excellence in education by providing educational programs in the geological sciences that enables the students to acquire basic and advanced knowledge and the necessary skills to compete like professionals or graduates in labor market. Moreover, the faculty aims at upgrading the efficiency of its teaching staff members in order to conduct unique researches in the geological sciences that contribute to solve the problems of the society on scientific and moral bases. So, as a part of the Faculty, the Geology department aims at participating in the development and the service of the society on the level of the Delta region and on the national and regional level as well. .

-• Geology Department aims to help graduates acquire the necessary skills to work in various geology fields and to prepare them for handling the latest technologies used in Earth Sciences.

• The department also seeks to conduct scientific research that addresses national priorities, focusing on the development of natural resources and tackling environmental issues related to groundwater, pollution, petroleum, mineral resources, desertification, and environmental geochemistry.

Modern programs of the department have been designed to keep pace with the remarkable advancements in Earth Sciences and Information Technology, ensuring that graduates are qualified to work in oil and gas companies, groundwater exploration, mining and quarrying sectors (including gold mines, radioactive minerals, ornamental and building stones), and scientific research centers. They will be also qualified for conducting postgraduate studies (Diploma – Master’s – PhD) in diverse and emerging specializations. With its distinguished history, Geology Department at Faculty of Science, Tanta University, stands as a model of academic excellence among Egyptian universities.
