Second-Year Geology Students at Tanta University's Faculty of Science Conclude Their Field Trip to the Bahariya Oasis

As part of the Faculty of Science at Tanta University's commitment to improving the teaching and learning system and enhancing the link between academic studies and practical application, second-year students of the Department of Geology concluded their four-day scientific field trip to the Bahariya Oasis, held from October 26 to 30, 2026. The trip aimed to develop students' field skills and enrich their scientific knowledge and experience in geology.

The trip was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and under the leadership of Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs. It was supervised by Prof. Abeer Alam Al-Din, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Prof. Amgad Salama, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahed, Head of the Department of Geology.

The trip featured an intensive scientific and training program that provided students with the opportunity to apply theoretical concepts in stratigraphy, structural geology, and physical geology. It also included training in collecting rock and mineral samples, as well as familiarization with geological instruments and field examination and research techniques, through visits to several prominent geological sites and formations in the Bahariya Oasis.

The trip was supervised by Prof. Hamza Khalil, Professor at the Department of Geology; Mr. Mohamed Shama, Assistant Lecturer at the Department; and Mr. Mohamed El-Beily, Assistant Lecturer at the Department. They oversaw the students' scientific and training activities throughout the field visits.

This trip is part of the Faculty of Science at Tanta University's strategy to develop students' scientific and practical skills, offer field training opportunities, and equip them with practical experience relevant to their academic specializations. This contributes to preparing qualified scientific professionals capable of meeting labor market requirements and keeping pace with recent developments in the geological sciences.
