“Child University” Students on a Scientific Visit at Tanta Faculty of Science, An Educational Experience for Exploring Science and University Specializations

   As part of the activities of the Child University Program at Tanta University, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein Mahmoud, Tanta University President, and under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Science received students from the sixth phase – Level (1F) on Tuesday, August 11, and Thursday, August 13, 2026, to begin the activities of the specialization phase, with the participation of a number of faculty members.

   The visit was part of Tanta University’s commitment to providing an applied educational experience that contributes to developing children’s skills and fostering scientific thinking and innovation. The students were divided into two specialized tracks: the “Medical Track” and the “Environment & Energy Track”.  

   Prof. Abeer Alam Al-Din, Faculty Dean, received the students and their parents in the presence of Prof. Zenhom El-Said, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Samir Zaki Qamh, Coordinator of the Child University Program at Tanta University; and Prof. Eman Bakr, the Faculty’s Child University Program Coordinator. The students were introduced to the Faculty of Science’s departments, its various specializations, and the career opportunities available to its graduates, in addition to an explanation of how to choose the appropriate scientific track according to their interests and abilities.

   The program included a number of specialized scientific lectures. In the Medical track, the students learned about the structure of the microscope, how to use it, and how to examine slides, in addition to topics related to anatomy and physiology. They also studied the parts of plants, their functions and growth conditions, as well as plant and animal cells.

   Meanwhile, students in the Environment & Energy track learned about nature, ecosystems, and their different types, in addition to biogeochemical cycles and nutrient cycles, and how essential elements for life are transferred among living organisms and the various components of the environment.

   Prof. Abeer Alam Al-Din, Dean of the Faculty of Science, emphasized the faculty’s commitment to providing all the necessary resources to ensure the success of the Child University experience and to simplifying basic sciences for students by combining theoretical lectures with practical applications. This approach provides a university environment that encourages learning, discovery, and creativity, develops scientific thinking and innovation skills, and bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application.

   At the conclusion of the activities, the Dean extended her thanks to the participating department heads: Prof. Nahla Radwan, Head of the Department of Zoology; Prof. Eman Abdel Zaher, Head of the Department of Botany; Prof. Abdullah Khedr, Head of the Department of Chemistry; and Prof. Ali Abdel Salam, Head of the Department of Physics, for the facilities and support they provided to ensure the success of the program and maximize the students’ benefit.
