As part of the initiative launched by His Excellency the President of the Republic, “A New Beginning for Human Development,” the Faculty of Science at Tanta University organized an awareness seminar today, Sunday, May 10, 2026, entitled “Bullying.” The seminar was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, University President, and Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, under the supervision of Prof. Abeer Alam El-Din, Faculty Dean, and Prof. Amgad Salama, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, in coordination with Mr. Ahmed Shehab, Director of Student Welfare Administration, and the Student Union, with the attendance of many students.
The seminar was delivered by Prof. Randa Mostafa El-Deeb, Professor of Foundations of Child Education at the Faculty of Education, Tanta University, and founder of the “Raise Your Child Right” initiative.
For her part, Prof. Abeer Alam El-Din, Faculty Dean, affirmed that such seminars are organized within the framework of the faculty’s commitment to raising students’ awareness and promoting positive values among them. She noted that confronting the phenomenon of bullying requires the cooperation of all societal institutions, foremost among them the educational institutions, to provide a supportive and safe university environment.
Prof. Amgad Salama, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, also explained that the faculty places great importance on awareness activities that contribute to developing students’ personalities, emphasizing that promoting a culture of respect and tolerance among students represents a fundamental pillar of the educational process.
At the beginning of the seminar, Prof. Randa El-Deeb welcomed the attendees and thanked the university and faculty administration for organizing such seminars. She addressed the causes of bullying, explaining that they vary between psychological factors such as insecurity, frustration, low self-esteem, and the desire for control, as well as social and environmental factors including exposure to violence or neglect and imitation of negative behaviors within the family or through media outlets. She also reviewed the most common forms of bullying, including verbal, physical, social, cyber, and psychological bullying, supporting her presentation with real-life examples.
The seminar concluded with an open discussion session, during which attendees’ questions were received and answered in an interactive and productive atmosphere that reflected the importance of the topic and the students’ interest in it.
