Under the cooperation protocol between Faculty of Science, Tanta University, and Gharbia Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, a visit was organized today for the students of the Microbiology Professional Diploma to the company’s facilities. The visit was held under the patronage of Prof. Abeer Alam Al-Din, Faculty Dean; MG. Engr. Mohamed Abdel Fattah El-Sayed Youssef, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gharbia Water and Wastewater Company; and Prof. Eman Abdel-Zaher, Head of Department of Botany and Microbiology.
The visit also included the participation of Dr. Shimaa Hamdy El-Sabbagh, Academic Coordinator of the Microbiology Professional Diploma; Chemist Said Ahmed El-Dahhy, Head of the Laboratories and Quality Sector; Chemist Fatma Aboul-Fotouh Mahmoud Abou Shleib, Director General of the Central Water Laboratory; and Chemist Eman Abdel-Zaher El-Zawawy, Director of the Bacteriological Laboratory Department. During the visit, students were introduced to the Egyptian Standard Specifications regarding the maximum limits, criteria, and specifications required for potable water and domestic use. They also learned about the procedures for conducting biological analyses, including algal and parasitic examinations of water samples, as well as bacteriological analyses and total bacterial count.
