As part of the faculty’s community service role and its commitment to promoting scientific culture and raising awareness among young people of the importance of entrepreneurship, the faculty continued to welcome children from Khair Baladna Association for Sustainable Development on Thursday morning, August 6, 2026. The visit was part of the faculty’s scientific visits program, which provides children with an opportunity to learn about the university educational environment and gain practical experience in specialized laboratories.
The visit featured a scientific and practical program held in the laboratories of the Department of Chemistry and the Microanalysis Unit, in the presence of Prof. Zenhom Salem, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and in coordination with Prof. Abdullah Khedr, Head of the Department of Chemistry, and Prof. Hoda El-Ghamry, Manager of the Microanalysis Unit.
Prof. Abdel Baset Shokr, Emeritus Professor at the Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Amira El-Barqi, Specialist at the Microanalysis Unit, in cooperation with the specialists at the department and unit, delivered a series of practical activities that introduced the children to the basic stages involved in producing liquid soap, Dettol, detergents, and perfumes. They also learned about safe manufacturing methods, quality principles, and how chemical sciences can be applied to produce products that serve the community.
Prof. Abeer Abdel Hamid Alam Al-Din, Dean of Tanta Faculty of Science, affirmed that the faculty places community service and human development among its top priorities and seeks to utilize its scientific capabilities and specialized laboratories to promote scientific knowledge among various segments of society. She indicated that such visits represent a genuine investment in children’s minds, contributing to discovering their talents, developing their abilities, and connecting them with applied sciences in line with the state’s efforts to support innovation and entrepreneurship.
