Faculty of Science — Tanta University Welcomes the Evaluation Committee for the Best Environmentally Friendly Faculty Competition

   The Faculty of Science — Tanta University welcomed, on the morning of Sunday, 1 February 2026, the evaluation committee for the Best Environmentally Friendly Faculty Competition, in the presence of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Emad Ettman, Former Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Chair of the Evaluation Committee; along with the committee members.

   The committee comprised Prof. Mona El-Gammal, Professor at the Faculty of Science; Prof. Nada El-Shennawy, Manager of the E-Portal Unit; Prof. Ahmed Abu El-Saadat, Manager of the Main Center for Sustainability; Dr. Mohamed El-Sharkasy, Director of the Governorate’s Environmental Affairs Department; and Dr. Madihah Darwish, representing Engr. Mohamed Qotb, Head of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency.

   The committee was received by Prof. Abeer Alam El-Din, Faculty Dean, who accompanied the guests to the Faculty Hall to view and evaluate the environmental projects on display, which aim to promote sustainability concepts and environmental conservation.

   The visit included tours of the Environmental Heritage Museum, Geology Museum, Zoology Museum, Animal House, Herbarium, the Biogas Laboratory at the Department of Botany, the Solar Energy Project, the Rooftop Farming Project, the Aquaponics Project, in addition to the faculty gardens.

   The visit was attended by Prof. Zenhom Salem, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Amgad Salama, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Ali Abdel Salam, Head of the Physics Department Council; Prof. Eman Abdel Zaher, Head of the Botany Department Council; Prof. Youssef El-Naggar, Manager of the Quality Assurance Unit; Mr. Sherif El-Zeiny, Faculty Secretary-General; as well as a number of faculty members and members of the committee responsible for preparing and submitting the competition documentation at the faculty.

   Prof. Mahmoud Selim affirmed that the participation of the Faculty of Science in the Best Environmentally Friendly Faculty Competition reflects Tanta University’s awareness of the importance of transitioning toward sustainable green universities. In turn, Prof. Abeer Alam El-Din emphasized the faculty’s commitment to supporting environmental projects and applying sustainability concepts across the university campus, contributing to the realization of the university’s vision of becoming a green, environmentally friendly university.
